Full-time Conservation Technician position available with the Conservation Districts in the Trinidad, CO, NRCS office. Must have computer skills and knowledge of agriculture, surveying, machinery, and conservation. Work includes office and field duties. Farm and/or ranch experience preferred. Other Qualifications: strong communication and organizational skills; familiarity with Word, Excel, and mapping software (or willingness to learn); ability to work independently and with a team; willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions. Starting $20-25/hour, DOE. Opportunity for pay raise based on performance. The Spanish Peaks – Purgatoire River Conservation District is a local organization formed by landowners to address the natural resources by giving direction to, and receiving assistance from, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Colorado State Forest Service, Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife and other federal and state agencies. This technical assistance is provided to the landowners along with advice and information in an effort to preserve and enhance the natural resources profile of the lands while maximizing production to the benefit of landowners, the general public, and Colorado’s bountiful wildlife.
The function of the Spanish Peaks-Purgatoire River Conservation District is to make available technical, financial and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them so that they meet the needs of the local land manager with conservation of soil, water and related natural resources.
